Crashes with Linux, Eclipse Luna and GTK theme [solved]

Post by jsschwarz » Sat Oct 18, 2014 10:56 am

I had a lot of crashes when opening or closing files, switching between tabs or creating new files in Odysseus Studio with following error:

#
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007fcc0e5cb718, pid=29558, tid=140515072444160
#
# JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (7.0_65-b32) (build 1.7.0_65-b32)
# Java VM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (24.65-b04 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops)
# Derivative: IcedTea 2.5.2
# Distribution: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, package 7u65-2.5.2-3~14.04
# Problematic frame:
# C [libgobject-2.0.so.0+0x19718] g_object_get_qdata+0x18
#

After several tries I found the following solution:

- Install gtk2-engines-oxygen
- Find your GTK2 theme config file. For Oxygen it is /usr/share/themes/oxygen-gtk/gtk-2.0/gtkrc.
- Edit the theme config file (as root): change GtkComboBox::appears-as-list from 1 to 0.
